Join us for our Spring Speaker Series on Wednesday, May13th. This week we will hear from ACLU of Alaska presented by Cindy Woods, Immigration Rights' Attorney who will provide clear, practical guidance on what employers need to know when supporting non-citizen employees.
Topics will include:
- I-9 documents and hygiene (practice of maintaining accurate and compliant records)
- I-9 verification and audits
- ICE subpoenas
- Workplace policies
- Providing resources to immigrant employees
Who Should Attend
This session is designed for business owners, managers and human resources professionals who employ or may employ international workers. It is also relevant for supervisors, nonprofit leaders, and anyone responsible for workplace policies or employee management.
If your organization wants to better understand employer responsibilities, strengthen workplace practices and be prepared to respond to immigration related situations, this session will provide practical and timely guidance.
About the Speaker
Cindy Woods is the Senior Staff Attorney for Immigrants’ Rights at the ACLU of Alaska. Her work includes developing trainings and resources to help employers and communities understand immigration law and policy. She has experience in national policy work and has represented immigrants seeking legal protection. Cindy holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
