Presentation
Every spring, every region in the U.S.  gets a snapshot of their communities health from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundations County Health Rankings program.   Sitka’s health report card for  2017  is being released on March 29th and will be focus of the Chamber presentation that same day.

The Rankings are based on a model of population health that emphasizes the many factors that, if improved, can help make communities healthier places to live, learn, work and play.   This model has been used nationally since 2010.    If you are interested to see where Sitka is, where we’ve been and how we compare to the other 22 regions in Alaska then please come and be the first to see.   For a preview of the model and to see Sitka’s yearly results from 2010 - 2016 go tohttp://www.countyhealthrankings.org/

Biography
The presenter is Doug Osborne who works as the director of Health Promotion at Sitka Community Hospital.    Doug came to Alaska in 1996 as a VISTA volunteer in Ketchikan.   After graduating from Alaska Pacific University Master of Arts program Doug moved to Sitka with his wonderful wife Jami in 2003.   Doug’s focus and passion is health, which he views as critical to individuals, families, organizations and the community of Sitka as a whole.   “When you have good health you have a solid foundation to build on.  If you are working on building up your business, your career, your relationships or yourself you need energy to make things happen.  That energy comes from having good physical, mental, emotional, and social well being which is why I see health as such an important area to promote and focus on.”
