2014 Cruise Ship Wastewater Discharge Permitting
Discussion of the 2014 Cruise Ship general permit, which was developed to comply with the 2013 cruise ship wastewater legislation.

Biography
Michelle Hale is the Director of the Division of Water in the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. Ms. Hale is a chemist with 25 years of experience in water quality protection and management in Alaska. She has managed a private environmental chemistry laboratory, has served as environmental coordinator for the Kensington Mine, and has extensive experience with wastewater discharge permitting. She worked for the Department during the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, and has been back with DEC since 2000, serving as Director of the Division of Water since 2011. Ms. Hale is a lifelong Alaskan who has lived in Juneau, Douglas, Anchorage, Valdez, Craig, the northwest coast of Prince of Wales Island, and many points in between.
